01 — Research & Development

Innovation at the Core of Every Ball

Our R&D team continuously pushes the boundaries of sports ball engineering — from material science to performance testing — using AI-assisted design tooling and advanced prototyping workflows.

Research & Innovation

Continuous investigation into new materials, performance properties, and sustainable manufacturing methods.

Designing

AI-assisted scripting and CAD design to produce accurate panel layouts, graphics, and structural specifications.

Product Development

From concept to prototype — knife cuts, ink formulation, and physical sample creation before approvals.

Testing

Rigorous mechanical, chemical, weather, and performance testing to meet or exceed international standards.

02 — Manufacturing

From Material to Market

Every ball produced at Lucid Industries passes through a carefully sequenced production pipeline — designed to ensure consistency, durability, and performance from the very first step.

STEP 01

Material Development

Casing materials (PU, TPU, PVC) and backing fabrics are selected and tested for physical, mechanical, and chemical properties including hydrolysis, UV, abrasion, and weather resistance.

Hydrolysis Test

STEP 02

Bladder Testing

Each bladder is inspected via water submersion, physical checking for shell and valve damage, and 24-hour inflation hold tests to detect any slow leakage before handoff to product development.

STEP 03

Product Development

Prototypes are built with knife cuts to determine shape and panel configuration. Ink formulation and graphics are validated. Products undergo bounce, circumference, air retention, UV, water absorption, and fungus testing.

STEP 04

Lamination & Panel Cutting

Manual and machine lamination techniques are used with weight, adhesion, and humidity controls. Antifungal chemicals are applied. Automatic cutting presses ensure precise, consistent panel shapes via labeled tooling.

STEP 05

Printing & Panel Sorting

Ink shades are verified via Konica Spectrometer. QC inspectors approve pre-production samples before mass printing. Panels are sorted by color consistency, design accuracy, and configuration before stitching.

STEP 06

Stitching

Machine stitching and hybrid methods are employed under continuous QC supervision — checking stitch count, location, design alignment, panel placement, and foam bonding for hybrid balls.

STEP 07

Line End & Pre-Shipment QC

End-of-line inspectors check panel evenness, stitching tightness, and cleanliness. Balls are inflated and held 24 hours then checked with a digital pressure gauge. Pre-shipment sampling from the warehouse is performed on all ready cargo.

03 — Quality Control

Multi-Stage Quality at Every Step

Lucid Industries’ quality control system is dynamic and evolving — with embedded checks from raw material receipt through final shipment, ensuring every product meets the highest standards.
